About Me

Hey there! I’m Alex Stroming (she/her), a UK-based director, intimacy professional, teaching artist, and theatre maker. Originally from Wenatchee, WA, USA, I completed my MFA in Theatre Directing at East 15 Acting School in October 2024.

I make theatre with core artistic values of empathy, courage, and curiosity.  I practice antiracist, consent-based, egalitarian, trauma informed facilitation in my rehearsal rooms and classrooms. I am working towards certification as an intimacy director and coordinator through IDC, and previously trained with TIE.

I love to tell adventurous stories that amplify the experiences of young women and queer folx, preferably with themes of mental health, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), and platonic love. Extra points if I can somehow incorporate a dinosaur.

In 2019, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Theatre from Whitworth University, where I also studied Mathematics and Spanish. I love to explore! Before moving to the UK, I bounced around making theatre in Washington state, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington DC, New Hampshire, and Ahuachapán, El Salvador. Since moving to London, I have added Szczecin, Poland and Denpasar, Bali to my map of theatre adventures.

I am the creator of Out There (2022, Andy's Summer Playhouse) and the co-creator of Poetry and Prose (2019, Whitworth University), two original musicals. In 2024, Out There was shortlisted for further development with the National Youth Music Theatre in London.

When not doing theatre, you can find me buying too many books, eating an entire jar of dill pickles, or locating the nearest cat to snuggle with. My greatest claim to fame is baking FANTASTIC vegan black-bean brownies. Yes, you read that right- don't knock it til you try it!
